Rain may force postponement of Stockstill cleanup
While the scheduled volunteer cleanup for Stockstill Park is tomorrow, Tuesday, October 7 beginning at 9 a.m., forecasted rain may postpone the event.
According to Branson Parks and Recreation Director Cindy Shook, if heavy rains occur overnight or if it is raining tomorrow morning, the Stockstill cleanup will be cancelled and rescheduled for Friday, October 17.
Flags to be Lowered Sunday to Honor Firefighters
All flags in Branson as well as around the country will be flying at half-staff on Sunday, October 5 in observance of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
In 2001, shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, President Bush approved legislation requiring the U.S. flag to be lowered on all federal buildings annually to memorialize fallen firefighters.
National Fire Prevention Week October 5-10
In an effort to battle home fires before they start, fire departments across from the nation, including Branson, will be taking a lead role in National Fire Prevention week, October 5-12. This year’s theme, in partnership with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), is “Prevent Home Fires!”
Police Requesting Online Crime Tips
The Branson Police Department has now created an online crime tips page through the city’s website. While the police department has always taken tips over the telephone, the addition of a crime tip form on the Internet will provide those who are reluctant to call in the information a means of submitting a crime tip.
MoDOT Approves Funding for New Bridge Over Taneycomo
The Cost Share Committee of the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has approved funding for a new, second bridge over Lake Taneycomo. The new bridge will be built next to the existing, 70-year old Business 65 bridge that connects downtown Branson with Hollister.
City Seeking Volunteers for Stockstill Park Cleanup October 7
The city of Branson is once again putting a call out for volunteers to help repair Stockstill Park that was damaged by high winds and flash flooding from hurricane Ike earlier this month.
Branson Parks and Recreation Director Cindy Shook said the cleanup will be Tuesday, October 7, starting at 9 a.m. at the park.
