Attempted Armed Robbery and Carjacking Results in the Arrest of Two Men

At approximately 11:45 p.m. Saturday night an emergency call to 9-1-1 was placed reporting a possible armed robbery and carjacking in progress on Main Street just west of Veteran’s Boulevard in downtown Branson.
Two men allegedly stopped a woman and were in the process of stealing her car when a passerby yelled at them. “A police officer was also in the areas and saw both suspects. He was able to apprehend one of them at the scene,” stated Branson Police Chief Stan Dobbins. Additional officers responded to the incident including the police department’s K-9 unit. “The K-9 was able to quickly track the second suspect as he was discovered hiding under a deck of a home in a nearby neighborhood,” added Dobbins.
Both men were arrested and the weapons, later identified as BB guns, were recovered. “I’m thankful no one was injured, that a witness helped distract the suspects, and that an officer was nearby. I’m also very proud of our officers for their quick work including the resource of our K-9 unit,” stated Dobbins.
The two men have been taken to the Taney County Jail and charges are pending.
