REMINDER: ‘Responsible Alcohol Selling’ Class Required for Branson Businesses Selling Liquor

Branson, MO (April 2017) – The City of Branson Finance Department will be hosting a “Responsible Alcohol Selling” class on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 9:30AM for restaurant managers, servers, cashiers and bartenders.  This training is required of all businesses selling liquor in the city of Branson and those that are in the process of obtaining a liquor license.

The Community Partnership of the Ozarks will be conducting the liquor training at a cost of $5 per person, payable at the time of training. The session begins at 9:30AM and lasts approximately 1½ hours in the Council Chambers of the Branson City Hall located at 110 West Maddux in Branson, Missouri.

Under city code, liquor license holders are required to provide alcohol education programs for all managers, servers, bartenders and cashiers that sell alcoholic beverages within 60 days of their hire date and every two years thereafter. The managing officer at each business is also required to maintain, at the liquor licensed location, a list of servers, cashiers and bartenders, their dates of hire dates and last date of attendance to the alcohol selling class.

The intent is to ensure more responsible sellers of alcohol to minimize the risks of selling to those under the age of 21 and intoxicated buyers. Although this class is designed to fulfill the training requirements for the City of Branson, servers and cashiers from neighboring communities are also welcome to attend.

For additional information on the training or the city’s liquor ordinance, contact Carl Garrett, Branson’s supervisor of licensing and tax compliance, at 417-337-8575.
