The City of Branson Tree Board is proud to present the October Beautification Award, the final award for 2016. This month’s recipient is The Branson House located at 120 North Fourth Street. The house was originally constructed in 1923 by the Parnell family then purchased by Jim Owen. When Mr. Owen owned the property celebrities such as Joe DiMaggio and Charleston Hesston stayed at the house.
In 2010, after an extensive renovation, the owners, Dale and Carol Coursey, opened the house as a bed and breakfast. With the help of Mark Clendenen and Will Wicker, owner of Branson’s Best Lawn Care, they have continued to provide a serene and inviting space for their guests.
Awards will continue to be presented monthly in 2017 from May through October, with a recurring nomination deadline on the 20th of each month. Nomination criteria is as follows:
• A commercial property located within the city limits• Landscaped areas must be visible to the public
Nominations are reviewed and selected by the Tree Board on a monthly basis, and winners are presented with a certificate and a “Beautification Award Winner” of the month sign for their property along with public announcements via social media and local news outlets.
