Mayor's Moment: A weekly message from Branson Mayor Edd Akers

Mayor Moment

Dear Branson Community,

Missouri Governor Mike Parson is lifting all statewide restrictions on June 16, 2020. While this is great news for our local economy, please remain vigilant and practice what we know will keep it at bay. This is a real disease and is not going away anytime soon. A friend of mine who works in Branson has recently been tested positive for COVID-19.

“The Virus is still out there,” Governor Parson said. “It is still extremely important for everyone to continue social distancing. Be proactive. Avoid large, congested crowds, and if you can’t social distance, take extra precautions to protect yourself and those around you.”

Our municipal elections are finalized and I would like to congratulate Branson’s two new Aldermen, Jamie Whiteis and Jeff Seay to the Board, as well as incumbent Bill Skains. I look forward to working with the entire Board of Aldermen to serve our citizens.

Branson received special recognition in the form of a commemorative wreath that was placed in France, on Utah Beach remembering D-Day, June 6, 1944. I am honored that some of our guests were so impressed with the respect and reverence Branson has for veterans that they felt the need to lay a special Branson, Missouri wreath on that Beach, halfway across the World.

If you haven’t already done so, please complete the 2020 Census. It’s not too late and we need a good count! You can respond online at my2020census.com, by phone at 844-330-2020, or by mail.

I again ask for those who pray to please continue to do so for our community and our nation. I am troubled with the unrest. The need for personal responsibility and accountability to support the land of the free and the home of the brave is evident. While we here in Branson are seemingly sheltered from much that is going on, we need to take a stand for right and wrong.

Thank you for letting me serve you,

Mayor Edd Akers
